Empowering Privacy & Transparency in the AI Era

MacroToolkit is dedicated to building transparent, privacy-first web utilities. We give creators, researchers, and developers the tools to inspect, understand, and clean AI-generated file provenance and hidden formatting artifacts entirely within their own browsers.

100% Client-Side Privacy Guaranteed

Our Mission

As generative AI assistants like Claude have become fundamental tools for writing, software engineering, visual design, and academic research, content marking systems have evolved rapidly. Modern AI outputs frequently incorporate signed provenance metadata (such as C2PA manifests), hidden steganographic Unicode tags, zero-width characters, and non-printing formatting artifacts.

While content provenance serves important safety objectives, everyday users often face real-world friction: invisible characters corrupting code compilers, formatting glitches breaking publishing workflows, or unnecessary metadata exposing private generation histories when sharing media.

MacroToolkit was created to bring clarity, control, and privacy back to the user. We believe you have the right to inspect what is contained inside your files and text, and to sanitize that data cleanly without handing your confidential work over to third-party cloud servers.

Our Core Principles

1. Zero-Server Architecture

We uphold an uncompromising privacy standard. All binary file inspections, image pixel re-rasterization, PDF stream sanitization, and Unicode text transformations execute strictly in your local browser memory. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server or stored in a database.

2. Radical Technical Honesty

We reject deceptive marketing. We clearly distinguish between what can be removed (removable C2PA manifest chunks, EXIF/XMP headers, invisible Unicode characters) and what cannot (internal model-level statistical token distributions or baked visible pixels). We never make false claims about “bypassing AI detectors.”

3. Research-Driven Pipelines

Our cleaning engines are built upon rigorous technical research into the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) specification, ISO/IEC JPEG standards, PNG chunk definitions, and Unicode Consortium control character standards (NFC normalization).

4. Free & Open Access

Essential privacy utilities should be available to everyone without financial or technical barriers. MacroToolkit provides full functionality without subscriptions, credit restrictions, email registrations, or hidden fees.

How Our Technology Works

Text Sanitization Pipeline

Our 4-stage text engine analyzes code points across the entire Unicode space. It identifies zero-width spaces (U+200B), byte-order marks (U+FEFF), bidirectional formatting controls, and steganographic Unicode tag sequences (U+E0000..U+E007F).

The pipeline safely strips non-printing characters, normalizes mixed-script homoglyphs, and applies standard Unicode NFC canonical composition while preserving emojis, accents, and legitimate international scripts.

File Provenance Cleaner

Our file processing suite inspects binary file structures for digital provenance manifests. For PNGs and JPEGs, it locates JUMBF superbox containers, EXIF headers, and C2PA chunk identifiers (c2pa, jumb), re-rendering pixel buffers via HTML5 Canvas.

For SVGs, it cleans XML metadata elements and script blocks using DOM sanitization. For PDFs, it parses and purges metadata dictionaries and /C2PA streams using memory-based binary stream manipulation.

Our Commitment to Technical Honesty

We maintain a clear boundary between removable file metadata (C2PA manifests, EXIF tags, invisible Unicode marks) and statistical model-level watermarking. Statistical text watermarks are deeply integrated into model probability distributions and cannot be reliably detected or removed by client-side text cleaners without proprietary cryptographic keys.

We continuously monitor updates from AI research institutions and maintain active documentation on our technical specifications. If new reliable cleaning standards emerge, our tools are updated promptly.

Why Local Browser Processing Matters

Most online converter tools require uploading your sensitive documents and text to their cloud servers, creating privacy risks and latency. Here is how MacroToolkit compares:
